Inaugural event will provide a 2024 “Year in Review” of the stories that shaped Minnesota through the lens of journalism
Minneapolis, Minn. – The Minnesota Star Tribune today announced plans to host an innovative immersive experience dubbed The Wrap. A first of its kind event, The Wrap will be a definitive retrospective on the year that was 2024, while allowing attendees to experience like never before the news and events that shaped Minnesota’s culture over the past year.
Taking place on Friday, January 3, 2025, the Minnesota Star Tribune will host The Wrap in a unique event location; its Heritage Printing Facility in the North Loop of Minneapolis. In partnership with local event powerhouse Street Factory Media, the Strib will transform its vast paper warehouse into an immersive exhibit highlighting the year’s most impactful stories across food/culture, business, outdoors, news/politics and sports.
“With the largest newsroom in the Midwest, the Minnesota Star Tribune is uniquely positioned to tell the story of our entire state in all its depth and nuance,” said Chris Iles, Vice President of Communications and Brand Marketing for the Minnesota Star Tribune. “The Wrap will be a reflection on our state’s collective journey, and a love letter to this beautifully imperfect place we call home. Guests will leave with greater knowledge and inspiration for all the extraordinary things that took place in Minnesota this year.”
Featuring live, local music, a thoughtfully curated food and cocktail menu from the state’s hottest chefs and unique visual and tactile experiences, The Wrap will highlight significant cultural happenings amidst a state-of-the-art printing facility that produces more single copy newspapers than almost any organization in the country.
Additional details will be announced at a later date at startribune.com/thewrap including program information, awards and personalities, silent auction items, experiential details and more. Discounted tickets are currently available exclusively to subscribers, and will be made available to the general public starting Tuesday, Oct. 22 at startribune.com/thewrap.
This announcement comes on the heels of a transformative year at the Minnesota Star Tribune, including a deep expansion into Greater Minnesota, a complete reconfiguration of its newsroom resources, a complete reboot of its digital platforms in partnership with Code and Theory, the creation of a new opinion platform in Strib Voices, the launch of a philanthropy effort (The Local News Fund) in partnership with the Minneapolis Foundation, an organizational rebrand in partnership with local ad agency Colle McVoy, and much more.
“The Wrap is just the beginning of a reimagined events strategy that positions the Minnesota Star Tribune as a unique convener for the state of Minnesota,” said Steve Grove, Publisher and CEO of the Minnesota Star Tribune. “The Wrap will be a physical manifestation of our mission to connect the people, places and ideas shaping our state.”
