All Politics and Election Related Editorial Content is Now Available For Free to Registered Users at startribune.com
Minneapolis, Minn. – The Minnesota Star Tribune today announced that it is lifting its paywall on all election-related coverage starting now through November 6. All politics coverage, as well as opinion content pertaining to the historic 2024 General Election is now freely available on startribune.com.
“One of our most basic responsibilities as citizens is to vote, and one of our most essential jobs as a news organization is to inform our readers about the candidates, campaigns and issues and to track election results,” said Suki Dardarian, Editor and Senior Vice President of the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Throughout our organization, we take that responsibility seriously, and we’re committed to delivering top-notch coverage for all Minnesotans.”
The Minnesota Star Tribune elections coverage team – the largest in the state – is providing an array of news coverage, in-depth analysis and voter information to inform Minnesotans as they make their ballot choices. Plans include:
- The Minnesota 2024 voter guide: Who’s running, where they stand on the issues.
- Election FAQ:What you need to know to cast your ballot.
- Ballot lookup tool:Use your address to see what’s on your ballot.
- Deep coverage of state and local races across Minnesota that centers the voices of voters from across the state.
- Live Election Day coverage of the most important races.
- Thoughtful analysis of key races and topics, from the presidential election to the battle for the Minnesota House.
- Election related events:

In addition, the Minnesota Star Tribune’s Opinion department previously announced it would forego traditional endorsements, instead offering closely studied analyses of key races and candidates to help keep voters informed on those who seek to lead. The Minnesota Star Tribune endorses voters, not candidates, in upcoming election.
“As we near the stretch run of the most consequential presidential election in the nation’s recent history, we’re urging all Minnesotans to seek a variety of viewpoints as they weigh their own decisions,” said Phil Morris, Vice President and Opinion Editor for the Minnesota Star Tribune. “We are confident in the ability of informed citizens to decide whom they wish to vote for based on what they see, hear and research.”
Opinion coverage will remain sharply focused on providing an overview of the issues that matter most to Minnesotans and align with their collective welfare. These issues include but are not limited to candidate stances on the economy and tax policies, health care, agriculture, manufacturing, immigration, reproductive rights, education, criminal justice, international relations and more.
The Minnesota Star Tribune’s editorial board will also examine policy positions of candidates in the race for the U.S. Senate seat that is currently held by Sen. Amy Klobuchar and also weigh in on some of Minnesota’s more competitive U.S. House races. In addition, we will find engaging ways to amplify the voices of the Minnesota Star Tribune’s community columnists. The contributing columnists, who hail from all over the state, will bring diverse perspectives to our opinion content as the election season enters the stretch run.
