A free live blog, unlimited gift articles for subscribers, and a new family plan help Minnesotans stay informed and share the truth

Minneapolis, Minn. — At an unprecedented time across Minnesota, trusted local journalism is more essential than ever. The Minnesota Star Tribune is taking new steps to ensure Minnesotans, and the world – have access to accurate, independent, local reporting from the largest newsroom in the Midwest.

Breaking News, Outside the Paywall
To ensure its public service journalism is accessible to all, the Minnesota Star Tribune has made its live blog (a continuously updated stream of breaking news focused on the crisis affecting our state) available outside the paywall. There, readers can find the latest vetted and verified reporting from trained, local journalists. The most recent live blog is available on the Star Tribune’s digital platforms.

Unlimited Gift Articles to Share Trusted Reporting
For the first time in its history, the Minnesota Star Tribune is allowing subscribers to gift an unlimited number of articles. Every subscriber knows someone, whether across the state or across the country, who wants reliable information about what’s happening in Minnesota. By removing limits on article sharing, the Star Tribune is empowering readers to help spread truth through independent journalism.

New Family Plan Expands Access to Local News
To help households stay informed together, the Minnesota Star Tribune is introducing a new Family Plan subscription. The plan includes four unique logins, making it easy for family members, from kids and parents to partners and relatives, to follow trusted local coverage. For a limited time, the Family Plan is available at an introductory offer of 70% off or $90 for up to four accounts for the first year.

New subscribers who prefer a single subscription can also take advantage of a special offer on the standard plan, available for the introductory rate of $65 (normally $260).

Supporting Essential Journalism Through Donations
Readers who wish to further support the Star Tribune’s mission can donate to the Minnesota Star Tribune Local News Fund. Donations go 100% toward strengthening the newsroom and supporting journalists working in the field. Contributions are currently being used to equip reporters with updated personal protective equipment and tactical gear, ensuring their safety as they continue crucial on-the-ground reporting.

“In extraordinary times, independent, fact-based journalism is a public necessity,” said Steve Grove, Publisher and CEO of the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Community support is critical and ensures we can continue to meet this moment and deliver the crucial reporting Minnesotans, and the world, deserve.”
