About
The Minnesota Star Tribune Top Workplaces is the premier workplace recognition program in Minnesota and is an excellent way for employers to build their brand, communicate workplace values, recruit new talent, and retain current employees.
Each year through our partner, Energage, employers are ranked based solely on scores generated by employee responses measuring engagement, organizational health, and satisfaction. The top employers in each size category – small, medium, and large – receive the special designation as a Star Tribune Top 200 Workplace and are invited to attend the luncheon.

For the Star Tribune rankings, any employer with 50 or more workers in the state can be nominated. It can be a public or private company, nonprofit or government entity. To make the final list, a company must allow Energage to conduct a 24-question survey with its workers starting January and running through April. Participation is free, with no obligation to buy any product or service.
The Energage surveys cover seven areas, including these organizational health factors that measure how well employees are working together toward a common cause:
• Alignment: Where the company is headed, its values, cooperation.
• Effectiveness: Doing things well, sharing different viewpoints, encouraging new ideas.
• Connection: Employees feel appreciated, that their work is meaningful.
• My manager: Cares about concerns, helps me learn and grow.
In addition, the survey asks employees about other factors:
• Employee engagement: Loyalty, motivation and referral of the company to others.
• Leader: Confidence in company leadership.
• The basics: Pay, benefits, flexibility.
Anyone can nominate an employer by going to startribune.com/nominate or by calling 612-605-3306.
