Star Tribune Announces Winners of Sixth Annual “Top 150 Workplaces in Minnesota”
MINNEAPOLIS – June 15, 2015 – Star Tribune Media Co., Minnesota’s largest media company, today announced the winners of its sixth annual “Top 150 Workplaces in Minnesota” program as determined by in-depth surveys of more than 69,000 workers across the state.
Under the independent auspices of WorkplaceDynamics, more than 340 companies were evaluated through detailed questionnaires that captured employees’ opinions and perspectives on numerous facets of their employers and workplaces, including company values, leadership, organizational culture, compensation, benefits, employee engagement, and other measures. In its six years, the Top Workplaces program has doubled in size, leading the Star Tribune to expand to a roster of 150 recognized organizations.
In the large-company category, SPS Commerce, a 770-person retail technology firm headquartered in Minneapolis, was named the Top Workplace for 2015. Pediatric Home Service, a provider of home health care for children and adolescents, took top honors among mid-sized organizations. Digital media agency Clockwork Active Media Systems claimed the top spot among small firms.
These 150 companies—ranging from innovative 50-person firms and small nonprofit organizations to large global leaders with thousands of employees—have designed and created progressive, employee-friendly environments that have earned the confidence, approval, and loyalty of their Minnesota workforces. What’s more, of the 45 markets evaluated by WorkplaceDynamics, Minnesota was ranked No. 1 in the nation for workplace satisfaction.
“It’s a pleasure for us to honor the large and growing number of Minnesota employers who—day in and day out—strive to create rewarding and meaningful workplaces,” said Mike Klingensmith, publisher and chief executive officer of Star Tribune Media Co. “The growth and prestige of these awards reflect the fact that the vibrant Minnesota economy continues to set the standard nationwide. We applaud the leadership of our business and nonprofit communities in fostering a standard of excellence that inspires and motivates their people and providing superior examples for others to emulate.”

About the Top 150 Workplaces Survey Methodology
For the sixth consecutive year, Star Tribune and WorkplaceDynamics set out to identify the Top 150 Workplaces in Minnesota. Company participation was voluntary. WorkplaceDynamics contacted hundreds of employers in Minnesota that collectively employ 130,000 people. To qualify, companies had to have a minimum of 50 employees and agree to allow their employees to take a confidential survey. A total of 343 companies participated and more than 69,000 employees completed the survey. WorkplaceDynamics ranked employers within their size band based solely on employee survey responses. The top employers in each size band were selected for inclusion. There was no charge to companies or employees nor was any compensation paid to them.
