Dan Shorter Named President of Star Tribune Digital

Minneapolis/St. Paul - (January 28, 2008) - Dan E. Shorter has been named President of Digital Media of the Star Tribune Company, Publisher and Chairman Chris Harte announced today.

Shorter currently is the general manager of PalmBeachPost.com, the website of The Palm Beach Post in West Palm Beach, FL. His new assignment is effective Feb. 24, 2008.

“Dan is a proven leader and innovator,” Harte said. “He is someone who not only understands where our business has come from but also the full potential of where it can go—and how to get there.”

In making the Shorter announcement, Harte said he was changing the name of the Star Tribune’s Interactive Media Division to “Digital Media” to reflect the company’s desire to expand its portfolio from online products to a full range of digital products. Also, he said giving the title of president to the head of the division acknowledges the expanded importance of growing the digital franchise.

Harte said Shorter was chosen for the job because of his strong track record of digital innovation in a newspaper company environment and because of his broad experience with all aspects of the business. Shorter has spent about half his 30-year career as a writer and editor and the other half in new business development, especially in digital products.
