Lynne Truss, author of “Eats, Shoots and Leaves” to speak at 2006 Star Tribune Women’s Lecture Series presented by Herberger’s April 11

Minneapolis/St. Paul - (April 7, 2006) - Lynne Truss, author of the #1 international bestseller, “Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation,” will speak at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis Tuesday, April 11, 7:30 p.m. Truss is the fourth speaker in the 10th anniversary season of the Star Tribune Women's Lecture Series presented by Herberger’s and produced by SMART TALK.

If you missed out on punctuation in grade school, get ready for a grammar treat with a cherry on top. No one ever made the proper placement of a comma as meaningful, funny and entertaining as Lynne Truss. She turned the banal subject of punctuation into must-read material. A former journalist for The Times of London, she was warned that such a book would be “commercial suicide.” When the book hit #1 worldwide, she knew that punctuation was finally making its mark.
