StarTribune.com receives two Digital Edge AwardsMinneapolis/St. Paul - (March 2, 2006) - StarTribune.com recently received two top industry awards: one for its site design and architecture and the other for its local shopping and directory strategy. The Digital Edge Awards, also known at the "Edgies," are sponsored by the Newspaper Association of America. StarTribune.com competes with other websites associated with newspapers having circulation of 250,000 or greater. Other finalists for the awards included washingtonpost.com (The Washington Post) and azcentral.com (The Arizona Republic/La Voz).

The ShopMinnesota service was developed in collaboration with the Minnesota Retail Association (MnRA at www.mnretail.org) and is powered by Planet Discover. It's an innovative way to bring buyers together with sellers. It features many products, provides gift ideas and helps consumers stretch their dollars with coupons and Weekly Hot Deals.
StarTribune.com had approximately 55 million page views per month during 2005.
The awards were presented at the 11th annual Digital Edge Awards ceremony Feb. 19 in Orlando, Fla.
