Star Tribune Names Michael Riggs CFOMinneapolis/St. Paul - (February 28, 2006) - Michael J. Riggs has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer at the Star Tribune, Publisher and President J. Keith Moyer announced today.
Riggs, 37, was promoted from his current job as the Star Tribune’s director of interactive media revenue. He replaces Jon Heimerman, who left the company in January.
“Mike is a change agent who has proven himself as both an outstanding financial and sales director,” Moyer said. “He combines keen analytic skills with decisive action and has been a key force in finding new revenue streams for growing our business.”
Riggs joined the Star Tribune as a senior financial accountant in 1996 and has held various financial management jobs. Before moving to interactive advertising sales last year, he was director of business planning for the sales division, responsible for budgeting, forecasting, pricing and strategic sales initiatives.
Riggs, who is a CPA, has also worked in financial jobs at Graco, Inc., Grant Thornton, and Abdo, Abdo and Eick. He has a BS in accounting and an MBA from North Dakota State University.
