Jim Bernard is Star Tribune’s senior vice president for digital with responsibility for the company’s portfolio of digital properties and operations, including StarTribune.com – the state’s most-visited website with 7 million unique visitors each month. He also oversees dozens of other digital products, including Star Tribune mobile and newsreader apps, the acclaimed “Going Out” arts and entertainment app, plus 19 separate high-school sports websites.
Bernard joined Star Tribune in 2010 from Dow Jones MarketWatch. As general manager at MarketWatch, he oversaw a 35 percent increase in site traffic. In 2008, MarketWatch.com was named one of the 10 Great Media Sites by B to B Media Business, and Bernard was named to the publication’s Who’s Who in Business Publishing. Prior to MarketWatch, Bernard held a series of executive positions with Dow Jones. Earlier in his career, he was the sales manager for the University of Minnesota Press and was also manager of the National Scholastic Press Association.
Bernard earned his MBA from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Iowa.
