Star Tribune to Launch Star Tribune Magazine on Sunday, April 16
MINNEAPOLIS – April 14, 2017 – Star Tribune Media Co., Minnesota’s largest media company, today previewed the debut issue of Star Tribune Magazine, which will be delivered to more than 225,000 Sunday home-delivery households on April 16 as part of their regular subscriptions. The magazine will also be available for purchase at more than 275 retail outlets in the 13-county Minneapolis–St. Paul metro area starting on April 17.
At a time when many newspaper publishers are cutting costs and pages, Star Tribune Magazine represents a bold new avenue for the publisher’s award-winning journalism, photography, and visual content. Each issue—featuring 100-percent new material from Star Tribune’s newsroom—will carry a range of in-depth features, profiles, and other lifestyle stories on the arts, fashion, home design and décor, culinary trends, and more. The Spring issue’s cover story on the late Prince’s musical empire—written by Chris Riemenschneider and illustrated by Kevin Cantrell—is accompanied by stories on style, food, travel, and more.
All Star Tribune metro home-delivery subscribers can receive the Star Tribune Magazine as part of their subscription. Consumers can also purchase copies at more than 275 retail outlets and newsstands throughout the area, including Lunds & Byerlys, Hy-Vee, and Mills Fleet Farm. Single-issue copies are available for $4.99 per issue.
“In this, Star Tribune’s 150th anniversary year, we’re particularly proud to launch this quarterly magazine and extend our print portfolio,” said Mike Klingensmith, publisher and chief executive officer. “With original content, a distinctive format, glossy production, and a feature-centric editorial direction, Star Tribune Magazine offers readers a more leisurely reading experience that complements the rhythm of a daily newspaper. Each quarter, we’ll have a chance to explore other topics with long-form content and high-impact visuals. It’s an attractive and appealing format that we think readers will enjoy spending more time with.”
