Job Description:

Startribune.com is looking for a talented Designer to join our staff and lead the development of a new site. Reporting to the Deputy Editor, the designer is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and constant improvement of the design and user experience of the new site.

Site design management: includes overall design direction of the site, including all content, marketing, and advertising elements.

Strategy/vision: will champion the user in the ongoing development of the site, working closely with the deputy editor and representatives from other departments -- including sales, marketing, creative, and operations -- to rapidly implement new features and continuously improve the site.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for a creative and aggressive person with an eagerness to push the boundaries. The designer must have at least 2 years of web design experience, with a proven track record of designing and leading the development of dynamic, innovative, exciting sites. Must also have strong project management skills and a deep understanding of user interface design and user experience design. Must have a thorough understanding of web standards. Requires advanced skills in imaging and illustration computer software programs, authoring languages and online design fundamentals (HTML, javascript, PhotoShop, Illustrator, MacroMedia Flash, Cascading Style Sheets, Final Cut Pro).
