Job Description: Star Tribune has an immediate opportunity for a part-time (temporary) Benefits Administrator. This position is responsible for administration of the company’s health and welfare benefits, including coordination with and monitoring of outside vendors.  Ensures benefit plans and programs are administered according to federal and state regulations, company policies and union contracts.  Functions as the benefits technical expert on company health and welfare benefit plans and programs.   Responsible for administration of health and welfare benefits for new hires, transfers and family status changes.

Qualifications: Minimum 1 year related experience. Requires excellent customer service skills, proficient communication, collaboration and administration skills. Requires sound judgment and demonstrated problem solving ability while working within predetermined policy, procedure and legal constraints. Requires demonstrated discretion in disseminating highly confidential data. Requires demonstrated ability to effectively meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to effectively use a variety of computer software (MicroSoft) products. Prefer previous HR experience, especially in benefits administration. Prefer knowledge of ADA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA and related state legislation. Prefer knowledge of PeopleSoft 8.9 and database software.
