Usually Mon-Fri 9 a.m - 6 p.m. with nights and weekends as necessary.

Job Description: This editor will supervise a team of reporters who cover St. Paul and the rest of the East Metro area. The bureau aims to be the leading source of news in its coverage area. The team's coverage responsibility ranges from government to education to public safety to development. The editor, working with the reporters, will shape coverage plans for the daily paper, the weekly east extra section, longer-term enterprise efforts and coverage for startribune.com.

Qualifications: This editor must have several years of daily newspaper reporting or editing experience. Must be fast and flexible, able to react instantly and smartly to news developments on a daily basis. The editor also must be able to develop long-term plans -- from words to visuals -- for comprehensive and sophisticated coverage of the Bureau's topics and geographic area. The editor must be able to thrive in a highly competitive environment. An ability to communicate well with other editors -- including photo and graphics editors, section coordinators, and startribune.com staff -- is essential. Applicants should have demonstrated strong story-development and editing skills and sound news judgment. Must have previous supervisory experience.
