Karen Larson, vice president, Specialty Publications and Business Development, is responsible for all niche publications, special sections and direct marketing. She was named to her current assignment in 2008.
Larson started her media career with Cowles Media in 1988 and began working for the Star Tribune in 1994. At the Star Tribune she has held positions in Finance, and Sales and Marketing, including director of Recruitment Advertising, director of Sales and Marketing for StarTribune.com, vice president of Classified Advertising and vice president of Marketing.
Larson has a master’s degree in finance from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She is a Certified Public Accountant. She is the chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter Board of Directors. She also is a Minneapolis Downtown Council member.
