Back Copies

Back copies of the Star Tribune newspaper are available for purchase through the Star Tribune Back Copy Department and are available for 75 days after the date of publication. The Star Tribune does not keep back issues of the newspaper past 75 days.

To order back copies

You’ll need to know the date of the issue you wish to order. (The Star Tribune does not provide research services for articles, obituaries or recipes.) To check when an article may have been published, search Star Tribune archives at www.startribune.com/archives.

To ensure in-stock service to as many customers as possible, quantities are limited to five daily papers of the same date and two Sunday papers of the same date. To check for the availability of a specific issue, please call the back copy information line at 612-673-4618.

No fax orders, please. (We cannot guarantee the reliability of faxed orders for back copies.)

Delivery options and pricing

Choose from Standard, Priority or Overnight delivery service. Prices include shipping costs unless otherwise indicated. Note: we cannot deliver to PO Box addresses.

Standard Delivery (first-class mail)

Delivery in 2 to 3 weeks
Monday-Saturday newspapers: $6 per issue
Sunday newspapers: $8.50 per issue

Priority Delivery (USPS Priority Mail)

Delivery in 3 to 4 business days
Daily and Sunday newspapers: $12 per issue

Overnight Delivery (FedEx or UPS)

Daily and Sunday newspapers: $12 per issue, plus overnight delivery fees from FedEx. FedEx delivery fees can be charged to your FedEx account number, or they may be put on a personal credit card. Orders must be placed by noon (Central Time) in order to be delivered the following business day.

Walk-in back copy sales

You also may purchase back copies at the Star Tribune classified counter in the lobby at 425 Portland Avenue South in downtown Minneapolis. Metered parking is available along Portland Avenue. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Call 612-673-4618 for holiday hours.

Prices for walk-in sales:

Current week’s newspapers: $1 for Monday-Saturday newspapers; $1.75 for Sunday newspapers.

Newspapers older than one week: $2.50 for Monday-Saturday newspapers; $5 for Sunday newspapers.
