Helen Wainwright Vice President Human Resources and Labor Relations

Helen Wainwright is senior vice president, Human Resources and Labor Relations. She is responsible for the recruitment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training, safety, wellness and labor relations functions at
the paper.

Prior to joining Star Tribune in May 2002, Wainwright was human resources director of The Fresno (Calif.) Bee. She also served in human resource roles
at McClatchy corporate headquarters in Sacramento, and at The Herald in
Rock Hill, S.C..

Wainwright has a bachelor's degree in business administration/management and a master's degree in business administration from California State University in Sacramento, Calif. She also has a Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR) designation from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Wainwright is a member of the boards of directors for Achieve! Minneapolis and Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest. She has been a board member and volunteer with Junior Achievement since 1994, and was a student participant in high school. Wainwright has been involved with various workforce-readiness projects in her career, including national and local school-to-work consortiums and committees. She also serves as a mentor in the Menttium program.
