Training and Development
 | | Assistant Business Editor Greg Patterson | The Star Tribune newsroom is deeply committed to staff training and development. We are taking a long-term, strategic approach to training that will build skills to match our priorities into the future. To that end we have several staff members with responsibility for training.
We frequently provide in-house training opportunities through Strib U, and in so doing strive to include something occasionally for all the crafts. For example, we brought in speakers of national renown for a training series on editing and leadership issues for team leaders. We also worked with the Committee of Concerned Journalists for sessions on ethics.
Occasionally we send staff members to out-of-town training seminars. At the Star Tribune, we want to provide opportunity and challenge as well as job satisfaction. We know that training is a key part of that goal.
