Important Message: You must complete the 2010 Healthy Benefits Wellness Program requirements by Sept. 30, 2010, to receive preferred benefits in 2011.
If you are covering your spouse in the medical plans, she/he also needs to complete the requirements to earn the preferred benefits; dependent children do not need to participate.
Wellness Requirements
Here's what you need to do to fulfill the Wellness requirements in 2010:
New Action Tracker Wellness Program Option
Do you regularly exercise at a health club or the Star Tribune Fitness Center? Now you can fulfill your Healthy Benefits Wellness Program requirement by tracking your exercise with the new Action Tracker.

Healthy Benefit Wellness Seminars (March - June)
Attend three of the following seminars to complete one Healthy Benefits wellness program requirement.
You must register in order to attend one of the following seminars. Send an email to benefits@startribune.com at least 24 hours prior to the seminar start time. In the email indicate your name, date of birth, the name and date of the seminar you wish to attend, and your contact information. If you are a spouse of an employee or retiree please also include that person's name.
Emotional Eating
Learn about the behaviors and causes of emotional eating, strategies for change and coping skills.

Taking Sleep Seriously
If you are getting less than 8 hours of sleep a night, you may not be as alert, sharp and energetic as you could be. Learn about sleep stages, types of insomnia and techniques for falling asleep naturally.

Helping Your Child Lose Weight
The number of overweight and obese children is rising, with an increase in hypertension and diabetes. Learn how to help your child overcome the leading causes: poor dietary habits and physical inactivity.

Learn how to find time to exercise, when to do it and for how long, including exercise in the work place and at your desk.

Learn to identify the causes, types and triggers of back pain so you can identify actions to prevent or manage the pain, as well as identify when to see a doctor.

Well Being: Healthy Stress
Stress can affect your health and relationships, but is unavoidable. Learn to identify stressors and manage stress.

2010 Preferred Benefits
- Single coverage: $250 reduction in annual single deductible (Open Access Choice Plan) or additional $250 company HSA contribution (Empower HSA Plan)
- Dependent coverages: $500 reduction in annual family deductible (Open Access Choice Plan) or additional $500 company HSA contribution (Empower HSA Plan)
